Help Rawan’s Family Survive
United States
My name is Rawan Mazen, I’m 21 years old, from Beit Hanoun, Gaza. I was a third-year student at Al-Quds Open University, majoring in mathematics. Unfortunately, the university was completely destroyed in the war. I had beautiful dreams and clear goals, but the harsh reality put a stop to my academic career.
I was supposed to be working on my graduation project, with a bright future and a job in my field waiting for me. I was living a peaceful family life, excitedly preparing to welcome my first child. I was ready for anything. But suddenly, everything changed when we heard the terrifying sounds of explosions. Our options ran out and we had to flee from one place to another—with me being nine months pregnant.
I went through extremely difficult circumstances until the time came to give birth, facing countless challenges. Yet, despite it all, I gave birth to my first child under incredible circumstances.
Today, we face a severe shortage of food, clothing, and proper nutrition. We also struggle with internet access, which is essential for continuing my studies.
Despite all the pain, I am determined to achieve my dream. After much thought, I decided to create a support group to help me resume my studies and build a better future for my family. I truly hope this suffering will end soon and peace will return to our homeland.
I donate to Rawan through her family friend and my friend, Haitham Al-Masry, who has a successful fundraiser here and X account. Rawan doesn’t speak English, and I don’t have direct financial access to her. But I do speak with her with WhatsApp, when the enemy isn’t sabotaging internet access. Now, I donate to Rawan and my friend Haitham under my full name, and I keep my donations to Haitham and Rawan separate. You may check the links below.
Kevin Josephs, the manager of Haitham’s campaign, is assisting me with this. International bank transfers cost around $45, which is why this shared donation route makes sense for now. If this were a large operation receiving high-volume donations, it would be more practical and necessary to have direct access to Rawan’s account. So, I’m helping on a small scale, and under the circumstances, this setup is the best available option. I’m sponsoring an immigrant myself, my wife, at this time. Thanks for understanding.
If this arrangement makes you uncomfortable, please feel free to support other trusted efforts—like the Sameer Project or others here; prior to enemy sabotage, I donated to Palestine Action (before the UK wrongly proscribed them), or UNRWA (before Israel undermined them). No offense taken. I share your frustration.
